Natalia
Mariinsky Director Valery Gergiev just discussed plans for the upcoming opera & ballet season. http://www.kommersant.ru/doc/1784200 Balanchine's Midsummer Night's Dream will be the major new offering, planned for March 2012. The only other dance-related item mentioned by Gergiev is Vishneva's special modern-dance evening 'Dialogues' in November, featuring Martha Graham's 'Errand into the Maze.' [several opera premieres are planned, with a decidedly French twist -- Peleas et Melisande, Faust, Tales of Hoffman -- as well as a new production of Boris Godunov to replace the current minimalistic/futuristic version.] The ballet season began yesterday with Romeo & Juliet starring Terioshkina/Schklyarov, followed by another R&J today starring Evgenia Obraztsova/Igor Kolb.
