rg
the card scanned here was posted in 1982 to greet the new year in Soviet Russia. it wasn't a postcard i actively acquired; it came as backing in a mailer from Russia to protect a more vintage Russian, ballet card. it's hardly 'high art' but with Father Frost looking so dwarflike, i'm reminded of the fate-like gnomes who inhabit the clock striking midnight in Prokofiev's CINDERELLA. it all says HAPPY NEW YEAR in its happy way. (the hammer&sickle stamp on the back is now dated, but the new year cheer is not.) Link to comment
Alexandra
Happy New Year to you, rg (and to all Ballet Talkers!) I love the gnomish santa -- he really could have a workshop in those woods. Link to comment
bart
My favorites are the fox and the rabbit, living quite harmoniously together. I hope we can experience more along those lines in 2009. Happy New Year, all! Link to comment
