carbro
I'm sure some of our readers will be interested. Arts advocates have traditionally cited economic and educational benefits when they argue for arts funding. But a new study from the RAND Corporation questions this way of making the case for the Arts. On Thursday, May 26, Brian Lehrer will discuss this issue with his guests: Kevin McCarthy, Senior Social Scientist for the Rand Corporation, author of the report: Gifts of the Muse on the arguments for funding of the arts; and Jolie Jensen, Professor University of Tulsa, Author: Is Art Good for Us?: Beliefs about High Culture in American Life (Rowman & Littlefield, 2002). -->This link will lead to others, including the Wallace Foundation, which commissioned the study, and the Rand study itself. Brian's show airs in the New York area from 10:00 a.m. to noon on 820 AM, 93.9 FM and streams live on WNYC.org. It will be archived by around 5:00 p.m. on the show's date for future listening.
