Solor
Ive already posted this topic, but I want to put it up again for more hits - heres the topic again- I was just curious (I put this topic here because I wasnt sure where it should go) - After the fall of the Commuinist government in Russia, where does the Mariinksy/Kirov (or Russian Ballet in general) get thier money now that the old system is gone? I know Im like 15 years to late in asking this question but Im curious now that Russia is a democracy. ANY INFO WOULD BE COOL Link to comment
bart
I also wonder about this. And there is a related topic. What about the schools? It appears that they keep churning out dancers, but it is unclear what happens when the dancers have to get work. Is dancer supply overwhelming demand now that the state no longer guarantees employment? Does that explain all those Russian dancers moving to other parts of the world -- as well as pick-up or other forms of companies, some of them not very good, touring the classics? Link to comment
