Dale Posted March 15, 2005 Share Posted March 15, 2005 TAMÁS SOLYMOSI TO JOIN AMERICAN BALLET THEATRE AS PRINCIPAL GUEST ARTIST FOR METROPOLITAN OPERA HOUSE SEASON 3/10/2005 - Tamás Solymosi will join American Ballet Theatre as a Principal Guest Artist for the 2005 Metropolitan Opera House season, it was announced today by ABT Artistic Director Kevin McKenzie. Solymosi was born in Budapest, Hungary and trained at the Hungarian Dance Academy in Budapest. After graduation, he joined Dutch National Ballet and later danced with English National Ballet. In 1993, Solymosi joined the Vienna State Opera Ballet. His repertoire with the company included Lescaut and Des Grieux in Manon, Albrecht in Giselle, Prince Siegfried in Rudolf Nureyev’s Swan Lake, the pas de deux from Le Corsaire, George Balanchine’s Tchaikovsky Pas de Deux, Romeo and Mercutio in John Cranko’s Romeo and Juliet and Danilo in The Merry Widow. Solymosi has appeared as a guest artist with the Bolshoi Ballet, Berlin State Opera, Finnish National Ballet and the Hungarian National Ballet, among others. He is the brother of Zoltan Solymosi, a former dancer with The Royal Ballet in London. With American Ballet Theatre, Solymosi is scheduled to perform Conrad in Le Corsaire, von Rothbart (Ballroom) in Swan Lake and the pas de deux from Act III of Swan Lake. Link to comment
