Natalia
My sister-in-law tells me that last week's Diaghilev triple bill (Chopiniana - Scheherazade - Firebird) was most memorable for the delicate Irina Zhelonkina in 'Chopiniana' and -- especially -- the strong technique and personality of Irma Nioradze as the Firebird. This was Nioradze's first performance of the season...the first in a while with the troupe...reportedly stronger than ever. 'Sheherazade' suffered from an earthbound Ruzimatov as the Golden Slave, partnering an "out of shape" Yulia Makhalina. Likewise, the Poet in 'Chopiniana,' Yevgeni Ivanchenko, seems to still be in 'summer form' (not quite his usual shape). Link to comment
