I'd welcome the opportunity to see a ballet in 3D. If you have seen a 3D movie recently it is nothing like the 3D of old, but looks very natural, just like you'd see if you were walking down the street with your own two eyes. I think it may really add something to the ballet experience when it comes to films of performances.

Plus we have seen Kampa do those fouettes most successfully several times over now. What a mean spirited clip.

I've wondered if the Kitri was just a part of Kampa's contract- ie she is contracted for X number of soloist/principal roles per season. She's only cast once during February (for the same again, hopefully better than last time) so it will be interesting to see if anything else comes of her this year. She is beautiful to look at and technically strong, but stylistically she is not ready for the Mariinsky stage. It is early in the season so we will see.

A 3rd degree burn will require a graft- I thought that was why he was having so many surgeries (ie to take grafts from donor sites and then several stages of grafting depending on depth of burn). Wishing him all the best for successful surgery and recovery.

Catherine, I read with interest that Nioradze and Makhalina were not permitted to be in the theater if they were not in class or performing. Why on earth is this so?
I have seen Makhalina's name on the roster a couple of times recently which came as a surprise to me, but in my brief history of following MT I have never seen Nioradze dance. Was there some dispute? Or are they considered too old to perform now?

It's a Russian TV show- like a 'Dancing with the Stars' for professional dancers Has dancers from Bolshoi, Mariinsky, Stanislavsky, Perm, and I can't remember where else and Diana Vishneva is one of the judges. The last I heard, Shapran was leading.
The first episode is on Youtube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GAflZZDHe24&feature=my_watch_later_videos&list=WL65F501B40DDC2D5F .It's 2 hours so get your cup of tea and settle in!

I just saw on Facebook that Kondaurova is to dance all three swan lakes in Taipei. Hope Skorik is okay and uninjured. There was no more information. Maybe someone with Russian connections could find out more?

She was fantastic- what charisma!

Conversely, all conversation regarding the performance that I have read today suggests that the audience loved it. Ultimately, that is what counts on the night. This hate campaign against Skorik is getting old very quickly.

Skorik is also dancing Titania on Oct 26- I believe she only danced the PDD last season.
What may also be of interest, although not a debut, is a performance by Yulia Makhalina in the divertissements of September 27th, though I have been unable to find out what she is dancing!

Yes, congratulations to the mothers-to-be! That is wonderful news

I just found this press release about the Costa Mesa performances- http://www.scfta.org...ky%20Ballet.pdf
Odette-Odile will be danced by Tereshkina, Kondaurova, Matvienko, Somova and Skorik while Siegfried will be danced by Schkylarov, Korsuntsev, Ivanchenko and Askerov.
If any BT-ers attend, I'd love to read your review!

I really enjoyed reading this Kristen- thanks for sharing!

This is wonderful news. Congratulations Katya!

Recent videos of Somova show an incredible improvement in her technique, stage manner and acting (though if you look through her Vaganova school acting exams she always had the capacity to be a great actress). I too thought she was a circus pony until recent times. She has come a long, long way and is certainly deserving of her position as a modern Mariinsky Ballerina.
Watch her Dying Swan. Watch her in Millipied's "Without". Both beautiful and both during the last 12 months. I would pay to see her any day.

There is Ashton's Two Pigeons as well.

Many thanks Nick- I look forward to seeing it. Please post a link!

Really enjoying the second series and am very glad not to have to watch any more Katie/Michael dramas! Thanks EvilNinjaX for your uploads

Announced in the Washington Post this morning- Boston Ballet dancer Keenan Kampa, who completed her training at the Vaganova Academy, will be joining the Mariinsky Ballet from June. Congratulations Ms Kampa!
