  1. I was there today, and Lauren Lovette was stunning. Lush, sparkling.....Chase Finlay partnered her crisply and thoughtfully. Mary Sell was great as dewdrop. I also especially loved Claire Kretchmar (sp?) as coffee. If it wasn't for the 8 year old boy exclaiming "I'm Bored!" And " I want to leave" every two minutes sitting next to me, it would have been a perfect matinee!

  2. Thanks California! I have been checking TDF regularly, and haven't seen NYCB yet this season. I can not sit through Seven Deadly again, so I won't be going this time.

I haven't been at all this season, since the end of 4th ring society and all the weird pricing. I didn't happen to join 4th ring last season, so missed out on Society NYCB. :(

  3. Cabro, thanks for that link- I look forward to reading the interview. I also agree about her talent and joy for dancing- and I also agree about her Diamond. I would love to see her in in strictly athletic roles that do not involve tutus.

    To each his own!

ETA: loved the interview and the one with Tiler Peck as well. Thanks!

  4. And with all due respect Deborah- I do check the casting and try to plan accordingly, but Savannah is cast very often with dancers I am very fond of. I'm simply expressing an opinon. Wonderful to hear that the audience loved her performance in Cortege so much.

  5. I'll add that I saw Ashley's first performance and Katie's debut- and loved them both. I got to see Sara Mearns both nights as well- sad that Rebecca Krohn was out- but LOVE Sara's Lilac Fairy. I think I enjoyed Tyler as the prince more, but I was also sitting closer, so it could be that I just saw more face? Chase Findlay blew my mind as Gold! I have to say that in all of both casts, my only real dissapointment was Savannah Lowrey. I just don't "get" her in this company- she really stands out and not in a good way. I really don't enjoy watching her in anything remotely classical, especially next to lovely dancers like Ashley Laracey and Lauren King as Ruby and Emerald. My friend who is totally new to NYCB also said to me- "who's that? she doesn't fit in". She's a very athletic and accomplished dancer, but I just don't enjoy her performances.

Wish I could have seen Hyltin- I'm a big fan of her dancing.

  6. Hi,

I'm watching the Royal Opera House Nutcracker on Ovation (that's what they call it- is it the Royal Ballet?)

and I'm wondering if the young woman dancing Clara/Marie is a studen or a member of the company. I'm always confused by how different companies do this- she is definitely young but doing quite a bit of dancing on pointe- which I know students are capabale of, but it seems like a lot to be resting on a student's shoulders.

    Thanks,

    Sandi

  7. Oy. The Adams music to the Martins piece made me want to hold my ears and run screaming from the theatre- especially the very long repetitive first section. What an unpleasant ending to the evening- and a waste of wonderful dancers.

Very much enjoyed Concerto DSCH, and would have MUCH rather have watched our own dancers dancing rubies!

  8. Hi- It's being reported on Broadwayworld.com that Stephen Hanna, who has been playing the older "Billy" in Billy Elliott on Broadway, will return to NYCB as a guest artist for this coming season. He will leave Billy Elliott in October. I don't know how to post a link!
