Oberon: "I cannot think of any ballet that has literally been performed only once".
I think Mighty Martins is keeping his word on Land of Nod.
Happy Turkey Day!

How does the platform move about the stage? Is there a very flat little boy under there?
So far my favorite entrance is by LaFosse with Meg's Magic Carpet Ride ala Land of Nod.

Does anyone know what NYCB and SAB are doing this year? Which principals/soloists? I suspect they'll be back on the Angelina Ballerina float.
Its suppose to rain and snow there on Thursday: WeatherChannel . Maybe there's time to convert the wall Tom Gold missed into an overhang. See this link for more on Tom's 2003 performance.

"I took two 16-year-old ballet students, innocent of the politics and history of the company, to a program of NYCB this past spring. This was the reaction after a very disappointing, shall we say, go at "Theme and Variations": Said one: "What do you think the artistic director says to them after a performance like that?" " -- Alexandra
I'll take a stab at what the AD might say. How about this, 'Next time, I'll give you more notice!'

I was suprised to hear about this group.
I though Nilas was more into music.
If you've been out of the loop on lil' Nilas' career, here's an old article on that topic.

FYI - She spoke briefly to playbill/times about her departure.

Peter's performance with the Suzanne Farrell Ballet in Newark two years ago will remain one of the glowing memories of my ballet-going career.
I agree.
Good Luck (once again) to Mr. Boal in Seattle.

Yes., I did notice that the publish year was 2002 and yet I'd never seen or heard oof it before now.
Actually, this book has been out for a while. I believe the paperback edition has just been released. -

FYI:
I just found out Twyla Tharp published a new book. She writes about the process of choreographing Movin Out in there. (She mentions that if they had called it a ballet they thought no one would come.) She describes the successes and failures along the way. That chapter looked good. I hope it sells well. Its on book shelves in a store near you.

Of course in the case of 4Ts, Balancine himself was here to make the design changes. I don't know what the Balanchine Trust would say about costume changes. The only change that comes to my mind immediately, since Mr B's death, is the corps swans in "Swan Lake" who are now in black. How does such a change come about?
That's a unique situation since Mr. B wanted those costumes changed to black. PM simply executed the idea with material already purchased for the occasion.

Is this David Diamond related to the late Irene Diamond?

She was an adorable Pierette and Marzipan but I am not sure what other roles are really suited for her. I see glimpses of Mazzo & Borree in her physically, does anyone else? -- Oberon
She was spectactular as Natalie in the Land of Nod, even from way in the back up high...
The bassoonist was terrific too.

Here's the article. Its the 5th paragraph:
Ms. Zhang is one of three women conducting established orchestras in the New York area this weekend. Anu Tali, 32, from Estonia, made her American debut this week with the New Jersey Symphony as part of its Northern Lights Festival, in a program to be presented again tonight, tomorrow and Sunday. And Andrea Quinn, a 40-year-old Englishwoman who is the music director of the New York City Ballet, leads performances at the New York State Theater. (Ms. Quinn recently announced that she will leave the dance company when her contract expires in June 2006, to return to Britain.)These artists represent a new wave of female conductors in their late 20's through early 40's.

and ABT
I wanted ABT but it was sold-out of every
store I knew to buy calendars from at half price.
I bought Picasso instead: There's at least 2 Harlequin's in there:)
