    I burned DVD's of the VHS tapes I liked, with the VHS as backup, but, sadly, those puppies are in storage as I prepare to sell my apartment and try to make it look like a showroom, instead of a house crammed into an apartment. First to go are all of the CD's/DVD's that don't have professional covers and most paperbacks. (I drew the line at any dance paperbacks. They stay in the collection.)

    PAL R2 will work with most computers, but as a region 2 release, will force US/Canada users to switch the software to R2, and most software will allow only four switches in total, before locking onto a region. I seem to remember that I purchased two different software packages on my old PC, and set each to a different region, but I haven't been able to find alternate software for my Mac, and have given up on R2 disks.

    I would suggest that you rent it before deciding whether to buy it, although I loved Helen Mirren. I can still envision the way she said, "Minnesota."

    In my opinion, a must-have is Dancing for Mr. B, which, unfortunately, is not available on amazon or through the NYCB gift shop. It may be available through libraries, and there is a copy (along with the Makarova ABT Giselle that's being offered through eBay (close date for bidding is Aug-18-06 18:04:48 PDT). Mine is packed away along with my VCR, and I don't see any evidence that it was ever released on DVD. (Even publisher Nonesuch's site give the barebones title with a picture of the VHS box.) IIRC it included was a clip of Hayden in Stars and Stripes. (Am I having a hallucinatory Senior Moment?) The documentary gave her a voice, and there was film of her teaching.

    Rosie, the cast lists for the three performances aren't up yet on either the English or Danish versions of the Royal Danish Ballet website. (The Danish version has a lot more information about Swan Lake and Bright Stream). The three performances are listed as: 9 September 8pm 10 September 12:00pm 10 September 8pm.
