There is a new video of the adagio from the Black Swan PDD of David and E Kondaurova in the You tube channel of elga1525.
-
I thought the Balanchine Trust Police was at work again. What she said!!!
-
Yes, thank you! Since the poster has posted only Russian videos, it seems safe to assume this was the Moscow performance. I probably should not be surprised by Boylston's authority and radiance, but I am. This is not the performance of a corps dancer.
Elga1525 does mentioned that this was filmed on 3-30-2011 in Moscow. It would be wonderful if the complete performance be shown.

MOSCOW gets World Fig. Skating Championships - April 24/May 1!!!! (just announced one day earlier than expected)
So Mariinsky Festival may be in my plans, after all.

The Kennedy Center's season is being announced right now by Michael Kaiser. Mariinsky coming back with the previously-toured Fokine Triple Bill (Chopiniana, Firebird, Scheherazade...snooze....) and Bolshoi in Coppelia, a gorgeous production with 'deluxe' sets & costumes.
Fokine Triple Bill....Snooze

Recently,on a trip to Manila, we attended a run through-coaching rehearsal of a new production of Don Q ,through the courtesy of principal dancer,Candice Adea and Artistic Director,Paul Morales of Ballet Philippines . The premiere will be on the 17th of Feb at the Cultural Center of the Philippines w/Candice A.and Connor Walsh , a guest from Houston Ballet. There are several more performances scheduled the rest of February with alternate cast.
The rehearsal was supervised by N Jumalon , Victor Ursabia and Ai-Gui Gasina, a Vaganova Choreographic Institute-trained coach from the Australian ballet.Ms Gasina coached the alternate Kitris and Basils and the soloists-corp de ballet. It was very interesting and enlightening to watch her correct and show the finer points of the choreography.
The 2 Kitris, Katherine Trofeo and especially Carissa Adea were excellent as well as Jean Marc Cordero, a finalist at the most recent Jackson IBC. The company,as a whole, was impressive considering the limited budget and performances.
The following night ,we attended a Gala for the benefit of dancer welfare and Edna Vida. It consisted mainly of the choreographic excerpts of the works of Edna Vida, a very talented choreographer but seldom seen outside of the Philippines. Candice Adea, a silver medalist at the last Jackson IBC, and JM Cordero danced a spectacular Diana and Acteon PDD that brought down the house. Lisa Macuja ,a Vaganova-trained ballerina, danced a very moving duet to Chopin .There were other world-class dancers in the gala but ,unfortunately, not credited in the program.

The updated complete casting for the London season is in the ABT website. Lots of debuts by upcoming members of the corps de ballet including Underwood, Hammoudi,De long , Doble, Boyston. :clapping: Too bad we will not see them at the Met in the spring
-
No surprise at all. What i wish to know if there are any promotions among the corps de ballet.
-
Regarding the production's "legs", I kept wondering if BAM weren't serving as a sort of out of town tryout for Kennedy Center.
And OCPAC.

The NYT review is out and Mr. M. likes it a lot.

According to his Facebook, Danny is back dancing ballet but the bad news is that he is dancing in Oslo,Norway w/ the Norwegian National ballet. He started last Oct,2010. Anyone w/ further information would be appreciated.

Has anyone choreographed to the Tchaikovsky
Violin Concerto?

According to Ismene Brown in the Artsdesk.com, David will be a guest artist at the Kirov Ballet's London season in July,2011. There was no mention of what he will be dancing. I don't recall of any American dancer guesting w/ the Kirov away from their home theatre.

There is recording of the TPDD in the Ballet Cubano channel in Youtube. Enjoy before it disappear.

Abatt, I don't think it looks air-brushed so much - more like they've "made-under" Gillian so her face looks smudgy with cinders and dirty from cleaning the hearth. Looks like she has on no eye make-up. I had to take a second look to be sure it was really Gillian.
PS - Can't quite figure out the photo of Hallberg on the Bright Stream page! It's really funny and I bet he had a hoot doing it. But does it have anything to do with Bright Stream??
If i remember correctly, one of the leading male soloist pretends to be a ballerina and does a Sylphide-like variation.

Partial casting for the ABT-KC season is in the ABT website.Sarah Lane is doing a Theme and Variation w/H Cornejo.

Thanks Christine for the tip. I thought Cory did very well as Ali. He is quite tall and shorter dancers seems a better fit in this role,i think. Igor Zelensky is the only other tall dancer i have seen in this role.Of course at this point , Cory is not up to the level of Igor or Angel or Jose Manuel but with more performances, who knows.

In the documentary of the 1981 Moscow IBC, there is a clip of her doing the most beautiful (IMO) introduction to the adagio of Le Corsaire. It's too tragic that she died ( in a car accident?) after winning one of the top prizes that year.

Now I'm wondering who his wife is, ksk04?
This sounds all really bad.. I also thought Sarafanov was 'golden boy' at the company (I don't really like his dancing, though)
His wife is Olesia Novikova

Of course, you meant Carreno instead of Cornejo. Some additional thoughts on the Met season.
1) As mentioned by other members, Sarah Lane has not received any principal casting opportunities. What is more disconcerting for her is that Daniil S, who would be one of the more direct routes, if she were to find a relatively stable set of partnering opportunities with him, to her getting more principal roles, seems to have been paired with Y Kajiya. See Daniil's Don Quixote debut; Nutcracker performances by the same pair.
2) Hee Seo debuts as Giselle with Hallberg. She has worked with him some before (eg La Sylphide) and I think they make a nice couple on stage. I see Hee Seo also gets the second female part in Bright Stream. She is clearly still very much on track towards promotion possibilities in several years. S Abrera also has the same Bright Stream role casting, as well as a Myrta in Giselle.
3) Interesting that Stiefel pairs Herrera in Swan Lake, with Hallberg (as well as Carreno, in the special performance with the split Odette/Odile) pairing Murphy.
4) A repeat of the Osipova/Hallberg pairing for Sleeping Beauty will be interesting.
I didn't see Osipova listed as a Giselle on the calendar -- did I just miss the listing?
5) I don't see Vishneva listed on the calendar for a Swan Lake. There is a "cast to be announced" indication a Saturday evening Swan Lake, but that might not be hers. Also, the matinee performance on the same day already has Gomes dancing Siegfried, so, if she were dancing that Saturday evening, she wouldn't be dancing with him (maybe Hallberg, whom she paired in 2010)?
5) Maria Riccetto gets a Coppelia.
6) The casting reflects, appropriately of course, Cornejo being honored in his final ABT Met season.

Solo for Siegfried! CMB check your e-mail!
Mme. Hermine, Thank you. I've always wondered where the Siegfried's solo music came from.
-
Wow...Theme and Variations...now, THAT'S going to be interesting to find the outcome...considering the knowledge of this ballet by Cuban balletomanes...in its Alonso's version, IMO...
Casting of the triple-bill is in the ABT website.I Boylston is debuting in T and V. w/ D Hallberg :clapping:

According to the Mariinsky website, they will be coming to NYC in the summer of 2011 w/ the US premier of Ratmansky's Humpback Horse and Anna Karenina. It will be a Ratmansky Marathon from this winter till the summer.

The NYT usually have the New Season issue the Sunday after Labor Day. Any ideas on new productions-revivals (aside from Nutcracker and Bright Stream). I'm keeping my fingers crossed for La Fille.. and Onegin revivals.
