  1. Hi all – not sure if this is allowed, so let me know if it's against community guidelines and I can remove.. Is anyone looking for a ticket to the show on Friday (Peck/Chan/Laracey/Hod)? I was supposed to go with a friend but she got COVID. I'm selling one (1) ticket at the original face value price of $170 including taxes and service fees. The seat is in the center front of the third ring (A113). Just a heads up that I will be seated next to you at A112 and that I'm picking up the tickets on the day of at the box office, so I completely understand if it's not something you're comfortable with. 2. Me too – Indiana also did it for all three fish dives so I think it's just how she does it. The only other Aurora I've seen in performance is Tiler Peck and hers has always looked extra clean to me, as showcased here at around 1:38
  3. I was also quite impressed by Woodward and Gerrity last night. Yes, there were a few small mishaps but overall I left the show on a high. About the fish dives - I noticed that as she is 'diving' one of her legs (I think the front/left leg) is flailing and bent a bit. Maybe that's what made it look a little off? Once she was in the actual fish dive position, it looked fine to me.
  4. I hope everything is alright with Jovani and his family! So sad that he's missing his debut as Desiré Was anyone at the show last night for Chan's debut? Also interested to hear how Ashley Hod was as Carabosse and Emma Von Enck/Roman Mejia as Princess Florine/Bluebird.
  5. I have to agree Fernie M! Emma von Enck looks so light on her feet! LaFreniere looks good and clean, but she appeared very mature and regal rehearsing the Act I Entrance and Rose Adagio. I think that energy might work for the wedding pdd, but not for Act I (excluding the vision scene). LaFreniere still has a week to go though, and final performances can be very different. Will be interested to hear reports on what people think! Sadly I don't think I will be able to make it to either of her shows..
  6. Wow, I love that they posted so many rehearsal videos! I'm very excited to see Indiana Woodward, though everyone looks pretty great. She seems to have that youthful energy that I'm looking for in Auroras. I also saw Megan Fairchild last night at the dress rehearsal and she definitely plays the part of a 16 year old very well!! The fact that Emma von Enck is performing Aurora's choreography for Family Saturday makes me think they considered her for the role but decided she wasn't ready yet. She will hopefully debut it in the future! She looks terrific from the videos they posted.
  7. I don't think you can go wrong with first ring center! I'm quite short so I like being in the first row of the rings. In the rear orchestra, the left/right section of Row R is good for me because there's no one in front of you. Depending on the ballet, I also enjoy sitting on the right side of the orchestra (though not TOO far right), as the dancers come out on that side during curtain call. Plus that's where they open up most of the $30 for 30 tickets.
  8. Hmm I have yet to see new Peck ballet. Hoping to see it in the spring!
  9. Thanks for linking this video BalanchineFan! Sterling was always so joyous to watch and light on her feet, and I agree Andy Veyette was a great partner for her. During the rehearsal yesterday, the host/speaker was talking about partnering and mentioned that she once heard Veyette say he could anticipate Sterling's next move by watching the muscles in the back of her neck!! I thought that was so cool. I hope you enjoy Everywhere We Go! Let us know what you think
  10. Thank you! The blue is for soloists and the yellow is for corps dancers! 25 is the number of times she danced! So if she was cast in La Sonnambula for example, and she danced it 3 times, then that would add 3 to her chart. Sorry, should've made that clearer! I'm considering also charting debuts for future seasons as I think that might be interesting to see.
  11. Here is the link to the charts for anyone who's interested: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1spGtuG6xk_wKIU3TcEGj2W_69byh4udd/view?usp=sharing I started doing this in Fall 2022.. regrettably did not do it for Nutcracker season but I've finished updating it for Winter 2023 casting! Of course, it's not perfect as there are a few things to keep in mind such as last-minute casting changes due to injury or COVID. These are just purely based off of the Principal Casting sheets on the NYCB website. Also Sara Mearns has been out for the entirety of this season, so naturally dancers like Emilie Gerrity have been getting a number of her usual roles. Nevertheless, I think it's interesting to see who's getting cast most in major roles! The first page is Fall 2022 and the second page is Winter 2023. If the link isn't working for anyone, do let me know
  12. Hmm I did wonder about this and you're probably right! Still, I wish she was given more opportunities like the other new soloists seem to be getting. I was bored and charted how many featured roles each dancer got this season based on principal casting sheets.. if anyone is interested in seeing that lol
  13. Just saw the 21st Century Choreography program tonight, for the second time (first time was with the other cast). All seats in the house were $38 for this performance, and from conversations I overheard, it seems a good number of the audience members tonight were not frequent ballet-goers. I hope NYCB continues to do this $38 promo pricing to draw in curious new audiences! Voices is such an interesting piece that I did not expect to enjoy this much! I think it is best viewed from the Orchestra however.. I sat in the Second Ring tonight and it did not have the same effect as when I sat in the Orchestra. The last movement with the entire cast is beautiful and captivating, drawing some audible wow's from the audience tonight. As for the cast, I have to say I preferred the Kikta, Fairchild, Phelan Pazcoguin, Maxwell cast. Fortuitous Ash did not get any more interesting the second time viewing it. I found my mind wandering off many times and I am not really interested in seeing it again, unfortunately. Everywhere We Go continues to be one of my favorites, especially from Peck. I love the music and wish they had it up online for streaming somewhere! Kikta was great and really shone in the role that was originally danced by Tess Reichlen I believe. I'm not sure about Ashley Hod in the role she debuted in tonight (originally danced by Sterling Hyltin), but perhaps she'll grow into it! Also side note.. I attended the onstage working rehearsal earlier today and it was Indiana Woodward and Anthony Huxley rehearsing Sleeping Beauty, mainly coached by Gonzalo Garcia. They were terrific and convinced me to snatch tickets for their performance on Feb 17.
  14. Thank you nysusan! I will be curious to hear your thoughts on their performances! Based on video clips I've seen, I have to agree! I'm so sad I never got to see her as Aurora before she retired..
  15. Casting for Week 2 of Sleeping Beauty is out! LaFreniere is debuting on Thursday, Feb 23 and dancing again on Sunday, Feb 26. I might try to go see her in this. I know she has a lot of fans on here but I'm still a little unconvinced. My fav soloists of the new bunch are Mira Nadon and Emma Von Enck, and I'm bummed the latter didn't get an Aurora debut. I currently have tickets to see Megan Fairchild on the 22nd and Tiler Peck on the 24th, and I'm also curious to see Indiana Woodward in this role. BTW, I'm new on here so hello everyone!!
