Interesting how it's been former corps members who all of a sudden "remember" these events.

Isabella Boylston will be guesting at Paris Opera Ballet's Don Quixote. (December 25 and 28)

Judging by that Instagram clip she posted, I'm not sure that is a good idea... eesh.

Those fouettes were fine. They got the job done. I adore Sarah's dancing, but yeah I think she needs to really get in the studio and have some intense fouette coaching. Especially for her debut in Don Q this spring season. And someone needs to tell her that 32 clean, confident singles are still going to wow the audience.
-
Wow canbelto, that's kind of bizarre that they both blocked you. Bizarre and uncalled for.

Who is "Day"?

Week 2 of casting is up:
Anyone ever see Tess Reichlen as SPF? Thoughts?
I'd like to see Abi Stafford and Adrian Danchig-Waring on that matinee. Abi dances so rarely these days, I feel like it's a treat when she does dance.

Lovette said in a recent interview (perhaps the one linked in her instagram bio) that she has been cast less in recent seasons to make time for her choreography. From her instagram stories, she is learning dewdrop.
Interesting...I wonder if she's thinking of early retirement in favor of a career in choreography. That would be a shame though, because I enjoy her dancing.
-
I want to see Megan Fairchild, although not sure if I can get down to the city when she's dancing Sugarplum. Maybe I can catch her as Dewdrop.
Sidenote: What's going on with Lauren Lovette? Is she injured? Seems like she hasn't been cast in much the last couple seasons.
-
There are dancers that are just such a pleasure to watch and she is one of them.

Yes, he filled in for Joseph Gorak. Not sure if Gorak was injured?
Oh ok, I was right!

Lane and Cirio were cast together in The Nutcracker last December, if I’m remembering correctly.
Edit: Hmm after checking, I guess I’m wrong. I don’t know why I thought they were? Maybe they did a Nutcracker gig at another company...
-
So no Swan Lake for Lane. I'm even sadder now that I missed her one performance this past spring.
-
Yeah, Abrera is not an option for Swan Lake. She was promoted too late. Even then, she might never have been a good fit for it, much like Alessandra Ferri or any number of other ABT principals that have come and gone without doing O/O.
-
Given her employment history, I highly doubt any major American company would want her. If she did come back to the US, it would probably be as a traveling guest artist like Adiarys Almeida. We'll see how she does in South Korea. I can't picture her being any happier there either.

It's hard to imagine Lane as Gamzatti temperament-wise, though she'd certainly be up to the technical demands. I'd like to see Simkin take on Solor; maybe Lane could be his Nikiya.
Isn't Simkin gone by the Spring season? I recall reading that he'll be in Berlin starting in January of 2018. Maybe I'm wrong. I'm curious to see who will fill the void as Lane's partners (it is a real shame because Simkin and Lane built so much momentum and magic together this past year). Obviously Herman, but he's getting to the age where he can't perform as often and without injury anymore.

So this is interesting. Skylar Brandt and Aran Bell have been rehearsing R&J, coached by Alessandra Ferri and Julio Bocco, courtesy of a foundation grant and the JKO School. Maybe this is just a study opportunity, but since they're doing R&J next Spring, does this mean that Brandt is also doing Juliet? If so, why isn't she rehearsing with her Romeo? There's no way they'd have Bell, a corps dancer who hasn't even done any soloist roles, do Romeo. He's been doing a lot of rehearsing with Brandt and Lane lately (see their Instagrams) which just looks like a great rehearsal opp. With Lane they were doing SL, but that was to help her prepare for her perf with the Kremlin Ballet tonight. But, Ferri/Bocca? Pulling out the big guns only to rehearse?
I highly doubt this is for ABT. I think it's for guesting gigs elsewhere. ABT has three new principal dancers all of whom have never performed Juliet with the company. So they (most likely Sarah and Christine) would be cast before Skyler and of course, Misty will be cast, Hee Seo, and probably Isabella and Gillian too. That doesn't leave room for any soloists this year.
-
Why is ABT hitching its wagon to Millepied's star? Is it because his wife is a famous actress? Because frankly, I have no interest in his works and I know many people share my opinion.

Tears came to my eyes watching that video of Megan!! How sublime she and Gonzalo are together. You could see he was almost crying himself.

I never cared much for Kochetkova, but she can at least execute the steps... I hope this does not mean that Cornejo will be saddled with Copeland for the Met season - that would be a waste of his great talent! He and Brandt were great in Le Corsaire - hopefully that's the pairing they are working on.
I'm thinking he will be with Sarah Lane most often, since Simkin is leaving. They are cast together for The Nutcracker run.
-
Wish I could make it down to NYC for her performance! I'll have to live vicariously through one of you all.
I wonder what Andrew Veyette thought when he read that....

Heck, it looks like ABT is putting Sleeping Beauty to rest for a year or two. So much for seeing Misty Copeland's Aurora in the USA anytime soon, following her upcoming debut in Australia, unless she performs the role as a guest with another US company. I'm looking forward to my first live view of Ms Copeland at the Kennedy Center this winter. Not sure how substantial may be her role in Whipped Cream but at least I'll be able to see what all the fuss is about.
I would be very surprised if she is ever cast in Sleeping Beauty at ABT. I think McKenzie and the ballet masters know her limitations, even is she doesn't. Aurora is probably the most technically demanding role in classical ballet and I don't think she would come out looking good. Just my opinion.

Given the list, I'd doubt it, but does anyone think that there's a possibility Ferri could return again next year? Maybe Nikita...maybe?
Please no. Her time is long passed and she would be taking roles away from dancers that deserve them.

I think it's kind of cute. Not every love story needs to be The Notebook.

I called it the other day! It just seemed he had checked out a while ago. I'm sure it's kind of a relief for Tiler Peck as well.

By his own admission, Clifford fancied himself Balanchine's successor before Martins became the frontrunner.
