The 1954 version was recorded in August in a London studio by RCA and released on 3 LPs. Irving Kolodin reviewed the recording in Saturday Review (September 1954) and was enthusiastic. As far as I know he didn't see (or, at least, review) the actual performance. Sir Malcolm Sargent directed the music on the recording. Since I have not heard it I would be interested if anyone has the LPs or to know if it is available on CD.
