  1. Yes, Karen and Aurora. I confess it was a bit of a shocker to see every chainee turns segment on demi pointe (Gillian only did them on pointe in her solo during the wedding grand pas). I am on my phone right now, and my tablet crashed, so I will be posting mire in detail when I am back in Miami (oh, I miss the beach..!! :-)). Still...this is definitely a HUGE improvement since Kirkland`s.

Ok, Cristian, looking forward to your report. .

  2. Sorry I was not aware of it. No, I did not it was "widely publicized", so I sort if bumped into it. That I am not enjoying it..?! Hell, you better bet I am, girl! (demi pointes and everything). More to come from my big, loud mouth.

Cristian, I'm not at LC, but I'm here in spirit and I look forward to your big, loud mouth!!

  3. The NY Historical Society has posted a cool time lapse video about the hanging of the curtain:

Oh, that's wonderful, thank you, millosr. That curtain has had some journey. You may know that it first went to Williamstown, Mass for cleaning before arriving at its permanent home at the NYHS. I plan on visiting it when i come down to NYC for La Bayadere yahoo.gif .

  4. Oh, I don't know how i could forget Stella Abrera as Myrta - incredible. So commanding and she dances soooo beautifully. A most elegant creature. Sarah Lane and Gorak were delightful in the Peasant Pas de Deux, too. As were Misty Copeland and Luciana Paris as Zulma and Moyna. The corp was excellent. tiphat.gif A most memorable performance which I will treasure for so many reasons, despite my bad seat.

  5. Rassemblement pas de deux (George Balanchine)

    Elizabeth Murphy

    Kiyon Gaines

Thanks for the clarification - this is why I was confused. I will most definitely be watching both this and the Tony's - should prove an interesting viewing experience! smilie_mondieu.gif

  6. If Osipova is unable to do her Bayadere's, that raises quite a few questions. When will they tell us? Will Sarafanov still do his Solors, but with a new partner, or was it a "package deal" like the ill-fated Smirnova/Chudin Bayadere casting? Who would replace her if she can't perform?

Hee Seo (just kidding) devil.gif. Joking aside, I'm sorry Osipova fell and I hope she isn't seriously injured. I don't know who would replace her, either.

I attended Xiomara's farewell performance and I agree with all the posts. I thought she was divine. Her dancing was superb, her acting was beautiful and as someone said on this thread, very natural. She excelled both as a young maiden and blessed spirit. Unlike many others here, this is only my second Giselle, although I have DVDs and watch on YouTube, too, and I think Reyes is my very favorite Giselle. She was everything Giselle should be, for me. Her entrechats in Act II were so light and fast and pretty - amazing, really. And what wonderful applause and tribute from her colleagues and fans; the heartfelt hugs, especially from Herman and Julie, the emotion and love that poured out of so many. I was very, very moved.

I enjoyed Herman's performance but I thought he was a bit lacking in his acting. Now, I haven't seen him much, either, so I don't know. But he didn't move me the way other Albrechts do.

I didn't hear the boos, but I'm not surprised. Xiomara has years of dancing still; she said so herself, so why would the company let such a treasure go? I'm pretty heartbroken about it and so it was a very bittersweet evening.

Whoever bashed the Parterre was absolutely right - the Parterre Box I was in - #4 - is awful.. There were only four people in the 8-seat box and if I had to sit in my assigned seat (4), I would have had no leg room and no view. I mean NO leg room. I sat behind it on a raised seat which was better BUT, the worst is that regardless, all seats in the box were partial vision. I'm so angry about this because I asked the box office specifically if they were partial vision and I was assured they were not. So I'm writing to make a complaint.

Thanks to everyone for all the updates on the other performances.

  7. Thank you, Helene. So it's not a PBS broadcast but a livestream on the internet? This is the some evening as the Tony Awards . And

I never heard of Rassemblement. Does anyone know about this ballet? When was it choreographed? Any info is welcome.

  8. Welcome, Leah, and I love your signature statement. Sounds like you've had a lot of dance experience and with Allegra Kent! I hope you post about your experiences dancing for Ms Kent, as well as the other companies with which you've danced.

  9. I'm so happy for Stella and her wonderful debut as Giselle and thanks to all who've provided accounts and critiques of the evening. I'm sorry I couldn't be there, but I'm tickled pink that I'll be seeing Reyes, Abrera as Myrta, Lane, Gorak and Cornejo order Wednesday night yahoo.gif ! Love that tweet (Stella, Stella, Stella,......)

  10. Well you might not be seeing Maria Kowroski in the role for awhile, that's for sure. She just announced on her public instagram (so I'm posting it here) that she's pregnant and the baby is due in November.

That's great! Blessings to you, Maria!

  11. Referencing #87 by Abatt, I have found this to be true at NYCB's summer residence at Saratoga Performing Arts Center. I used to buy my tickets in March to get great seats, but waiting affords me the opportunity to get tickets to see performers I'm interested in. I just checked the ABT website to see what is still available for Reyes' Giselle May 27, and there are many, many tickets available.
