I'd love for the promotions to come from within, and not outsourced. I have always liked ballet company's like NYCB, the Bolshoi, and Mariinsky's ballet tradition of having pretty much the majority of their dancers, from the principals down to the corp, a product of their company and the nationality of the company. Now that ABT has a feeder school, I hope they start doing this and developing their own style.

The only Male "Principal Problem" ABT has is NOT developing the talent they have. It is almost a crime!
Indeed. And that could also be said about the female Principals in the company as well. So many talented dancers have unnecessarily sat in the Corp and eventually left the company to do better things elsewhere. McKenzie should develop the talent he already has, instead of constantly importing star guest dancers. But I don't see that, and other problems ABT has changing until they get a new (and better) AD.

On ABT's website there is an archive for their repertoire, is that it? Because if so, when they dance their "mixed bill "repertoire do they change it up every year or something (because that's a lot of ballet's), or are most of those in the archive they don't dance anymore? Im new to ballet so I don't know.

I'm surprised that posters here were expecting a serious interview on a show that labels itself not only as a comedic and satirical news show, but is on a television station called Comedy Central where shows like South Park and Reno 911 are the line-up. The way Stephen conducted his interview with Hallberg was no different from any of his other interviews with his other guests where he pokes fun at/ jokes with them. Good thing Hallberg is familiar with the show and didn't take his interview seriously like he was being interviewed by Katie Couric.

A feeder school was one thing that I always felt ABT lacked compared to other top ballet companies. That, and the dancers not always looking uniform in their productions. I'm really happy about the bolded. I especially like that he's training his dancers to be able to dance in a variety of styles. My ballet knowledge isn't extensive like alot of members on this board, but from what I've seen of these new dancers whom are a product of JKO, I'm impressed.
