The last show before "soft" lockdown is tonight and this is "Etoiles". For the moment, the dancers will still be allowed to repeat so it's not a full stop. We'll see but it doesn't look good for Bayadère anyway...

One of these works, "Just", is by former Paris Opera Ballet Premier Danseur, Simon Valastro. Olga Smirnova will be the lead in two of its three performances.
Just to be precise, Simone Valastro was not Premier Danseur but Sujet

The whole programme is detailed on POB web site if you click on the link I made on the title of the shows with casting and dates.

I hope this epidemic will prompt people to begin doing what they should have been doing all along: staying at home when they're unwell. But theaters should also become more accommodating and offer patrons refunds when they're unable to attend for health reasons. Psychologically I can understand why theatergoers are reluctant to let a very expensive ticket go to waste, and so they use it, even if they're sick and even if they don't really want to go out.
Years ago I remember spending 3+ hours at the Met next to a woman who was coughing, very apologetically, and out of knee-jerk politeness I kept reassuring her that everything was fine. And then I spent nearly two weeks in bed hacking away. It was probably the sickest I've ever been.
this was already offered for a week by Paris Opera : you could be redunded of your ticket just by calling or sending a mail telling you're unwell.

it is available from the official Paris Opera Twitter . If you follow the link, you have more details on the 3 shows concerned so far

After numerous cancellations over Christmas because the strike, the French government has banned gatherings of more than 1,000 people, in an attempt to stop the spread of Covid-19. So once again, POB performances are being canceled. This time it's the Balanchine bill that's being pulled.
https://www.operadeparis.fr/en/message-to-spectators-of-the-performance-of-george-balanchine-3
And the Balanchine bill had already been cancelled 4 times because of the strike

There was a rumour of having Raymonda instead of La Bayadère but perhaps it requires too much soloists just like the Kylian bill at the same time...
Kylian is a favorite of POB and Petite Mort and Sechs Tänze are new to the repertoire

Really? I don't see who you are talking about then. People from this government are more resigning because of conflicts of interest...

I hadn't seen the response, so many thanks for the link. I was listening today to a report about a member of the French national government who is resigning his position after having been outed in an extra-marital relationship -- the general consensus was that this was highly unusual for the French, who generally do not delve into the private lives of public people. It seems that things are shifting.
Well it not quite the story. It's Macron's candidate for the election of Mayor of Paris and videos of him masturbating were shown on a website and later on twitter. He withdrew his candidacy.

The strike is not finished but as it is now. The trade unions are only calling the cancellation of Premieres and the shows happening the day of a national strike. These days are decided by the National Unions sometimes from one week to another, so difficult to forecast. The two first shows of Balanchine triple bill have been cancelled but it finally started last Monday.
