Robert Tewsley, who gave his first performance as a member of the Royal Ballet three days ago, has announced he is to leave the company at the end of the run of Mayerling, quoting his wish for more performances than he can get with the RB.

I remember his guest stint at NYCB, he didn't dance much then either

I think that is a shame. I really liked him the one time I saw him with NYCB, he seemed like a strong and grownup presence. Maybe he got a load of those awful lifts in Mayerling, and decided his back was more important!

*sigh* That news just about ruined my day! Was so looking foward to seeing him dance in so many things, especially Sleeping Beauty with Alina. I think he's a fantastic dancer and I'm disappointed to see him go.

Typical. I tell terrible lies to get the afternoon off work to see Ivan Putrov's only Swan Lake, then Robert Tewsley goes and leaves RB, and Ivan gets his Swan Lakes!
