MinkusPugni
Does anyone have any idea which production of Giselle is closest to the Petipa revival? Has anybody ever staged the version notated in the Sergeyev collection?
EricMontreal22
The Kirov one is pretty close isn't it? I believe they tried to reconstruct one of the last Petipa versions in the 1970s and that's what's still being danced (and is on DVD). The credits given on the Mariinsky's website are as follows: "Libretto: Vernoy de Saint-Georges, Théophile Gautier and Jean Coralli Set design: Igor Ivanov Costume design: Irina Press Production reconstruction consultant (1978): Yuri Slonimsky World premiere: 28 June 1841, Théâtre de l´Académie Royal de Musique, Paris Premiere in St Petersburg: 18 December 1842, Bolshoi Theatre Premiere Marius Petipa´s version: 5 February 1884, Bolshoi Theatre, St´Petersburg Running time: 2 hours 10 minutes "
