:shrug: GIL was a dancer who danced with the Roland Petit Ballet (of Marsailles??). I only saw him during Petit's co. engagemet at the Met either 1984,'85 or '86. I thought he was great, but have not seen or heard about him again. Can anyone give me any help??????????? THANKS

I would set up a foundation to help support struggling dance companies. I think

that when a company is disbanded due to finances, too much work and blood has

been used. If I feel a company deserves at least one chance to recover, and

survive. :yes:

Look for other fans I know, to stretch , and ask for their opinons on the

performance so far

We have to remember that this project was put together as a homage to Balachine's career with Broadway. Stroman is a Broadway choreographer. I was not overly impressed by the steps. But taken as theater-dance, rather than as a

dance-theater, it worked for me. I liken it more to ABT's "Merry Widow". The dancers get to act more than with the regular NYCB faire. Great costumes and the

overall production was well done.

Sascha Radetsky has overcome several severe injuries and has blossomed into an

exciting and pretty polished dancer. He is also a very humble and nice guy. A more deserving promotion I could not imagine He has a great line, and is a wonderful partner. Over the past year, he has danced as Espada in Don

Q.; a sailor in Fancy Free; Von Rothbart in Swan Lake; and other soloist roles.

As he gets further away from his last major injury, his confidence in his dancing,

and his interpretations has grown. I wish him all the best!!!!! :yes:

Thanks Rq and Ina for the info. I've been in NYPAL, but never thought

about looking in its film collection for dance. Too obvious

1. A great performance of "Fancy Free" with Carreno, Cornejo, and Radevsky.

The whole cast was just totally into their characters. :yes:

2. Kudos to a performance of "Fancy Free", at the State Theater, by the Dance

Theatre of Harlem. Thanks to both casts and companies for giving this work new life!!!!!!!!! :yes: :

3. Carlos Acosta at the APEX of his Cabriole in his 2nd Coda in Raymonda, at City

Center. What elevation, balon and form!!!!!!!!!! : :

4. Herman Cornejo in just about anything I saw. Esp. in Ashton's Dream and La Fille Mal Gardee. :yes:

5. La Fille Mal Gardee: With Nina Aniashvilli and Maxim Beleterkowski.

6. Alina Coceacu in Bayadere with Corella. A great match. Alina is soooooo tiny..

but sooooo strong. She has the least displacement in her hips during arabeques, &

"high leg lifts to the sides", I have seen in years. Amazing. ( sorry about spelling &

I just want to know if there were any films done of Rudi in Bayadere, esp. from the 1960's?????? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

:yes: I saw this same performance live at the Met when they taped it!!!!!!! A truly

great performance.......and it translated beautifully to video. The production quality, esp. the camera work was/is very high quality esp., in the late 1970s. :yes:

So I still have some special moments from the live images I saw, along with the

complementary images of the video!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :yes:

:yes: My two favorite male dancers are Jose Manuel Carreno and Carlos Acosta.

And, it is not for their superb dancing. It is the way they present, and care for their

ballerina. Carlos even mentioned in an article once that dropping his partner is what he is worried about most. That is why he has done thousands of pushups!!!!!!!

Jose told me that every dancer in the Cuban School goes thru at least 4 years of

Pas De Deux classes. If you have ever seen these two dance, you would see what

I mean.
