There still are B movies today. A few years ago, I think the Independent would have qualified, but they've now gotten their own category.

Roger Corman comes to mind as a B movie director. Example, several years ago he did a film version of the comic "The Fantastic Four" very campy movie, never got released in the theater, but has a huge cult following.

I think his "intelligence" is attributed to his degree from Yale.

I have to admit, I always considered Reagan B-rated, simply b/c I couldn't tell you any of his movies, and did he headline?

I sheepishly admit, that given economic times right now, I only go to companies if I know a "name". I know that's shallow, but I feel really overwhelmed with all of the companies coming in and trying to support them all, for the sake of "expanding my horizons" and support the art.

Besides, sometimes absence makes the heart grow fonder.

I wish all the companies would stay home and work on their home crowd and let themselves develop a reputation worthy of being out on the road.

I don't know where Nathalie has come from?

She's spelled her name both

Ekaterina Chtchelkanova and Ekaterina Schelkanova. Born in Russia. (she took some slack for the Hungarian as, apparently, a few words were mispronounced-who notices these things?)

She was in Center Stage (as one of the Swan Lake soloists) and on Broadway, briefly in "Movin Out"

She was with the Kirov from 88-92 an from 93-95 she was at ABT

hopefully that helps clarify who she is.

It's such a catch-22. Like getting a driver's license. Just because you qualified at 18 doesn't mean at 88 you should get behind the wheel.

There are so few "stars" nowadays, that some people like to resort to seeing what/who they "know" i.e. Misha. But I think it's partly up to the artist to recognize their limitations.

With the financial difficulties most ballet companies are facing, I don't know if I were a board, I'd want to pay the 45 year old ballerina a hefty salary for going out there once a month and not being able to perform a piece that meets the standards of an audience paying the hefty ticket price.

Which is why I like "character" dancers

As someone who came to ballet late, I always wished that each company offered a series of some sort that showed beginning works and what's happening now.

It's unfortunate that ballet seems to feel it needs to keep changing in order to get new audiences in. There's such a vast rep already in existence.

The Fantastiks, in a brief scene "Bring it On" had a male ballet dancer audition for the cheerleading squad, The Golden Bowl with Uma Thurman, a Merchant Ivory film had a brief ballet scene

The Music Lovers, which I just suffered through, it's about Tchaikovsky, does Fantasia count?

The ice skating movie Cutting Edge had a barre scene, and my personal favorite in "Being John Malkovich"

I went to the Metropolitan Museum of Art and was suprised to find some of the Degas ballet paintings still there, I thought they would have been in Philly

I think Zellweger not singing at the Oscars confirmed that she had a lot of help in the studio.

If anyone got robbed, it was Julianne Moore. And Gere for not getting nominated.

Kidman was a little slow getting up for both Andrews and O'Toole as well, perhaps it was the stillettos.

Cold Mountain and Julia Roberts next picture "Mona Lisa Smile" are already in "these are the next nominee" mode and they haven't been released.

To me ABT has always been a mishmash of international styles.

They're not as "fast" as NYCB, but seeing as they rely more on storybook ballets, they're ability to emote is sharper.

Or someone will get an Oscar the year following their deserved performance (Dame Judi Dench who lost for Mrs. Brown, but won for her 12 minute performance in Shakespeare in Love)

This year, I think it was Julianne Moore who didn't get it for the performance. No fake nose or voice editing was needed for her marvelous performance in Far From Heaven.

I think LOTR will fall the way of Star Wars. A place in film history, with no recognition, other than special effects. Which, while the acting is good, the films would not survive on acting alone. It's the perfect 3 act movies. Plus, I think, unless the change the book endings, people will find the ending somewhat anti-climatic.

Now, since Brody gets to present next year's Best Actress, pending any conflicts, will she lay one on him?!

I'd rather see the movie 7 times than pay $50 to see the Broadway show.

I thought "the kiss" was fine.

We're talking about people who "kiss" strange people on a daily basis. I don't think he shoved his tongue down her throat, and they asked him at the press interviews after, he and she both said no.

I feel like I'm reliving the Angelina Jolie, I'm in love with my brother moment, which so many people blew out of proportion to.

What's next, Nicole Kidman doesn't get along with her father, because she didn't thank him?

The only Raymonda I have in my head is Balanchine's Raymonda Variations.

I think Ansanelli did it recently?!

It lasted a couple of seasons after the Balanchine Celebration and then disappeared again.

I was glad for Brody, he had the most entertaining and poignant speech (and I'm glad he told the orchestra to let him finish)

And Polanski, I finally saw The Pianist and I thought it was a great film. I think he's a great filmaker and he deserved it, but still is considered to be a fugitive.

I'm still disturbed they felt the need to put in print that she's 5'6" and 105 pounds.

I think putting numbers in like that gives girls a "comparison" #
