  1. Jodie went to Broadway dance center and took a jazz class. If you've never had one before, I'd recommend it. It's lots of fun Good luck
  2. I don't really think that anything is the same as taking ballet class. This video looks to me that it might not be for serious ballet students anyway...since all the dancers are wearing sneakers. I've found when buying yoga or pilates videos that it's pretty much a process of trail and error. Each video I own has one really strong section, but the rest is laking. Good luck
  3. Having experienced the auditions for these modern companies, they are more interested in the "technician" than the artist. They seem to be looking for the people that have the ballet training and tricks more so than what the original modern dancers looked like.
  4. It seems to me that choreographers should have some way of leaving instructions for how they want their works to be used after their death. Then none of this could be disputed. But then you would have trouble with new technology ... would petipa have wanted his ballet's videotaped?
  5. People always ask me why ballet dancers don't make any money. But when I ask them when the last time they saw a ballet was they say never. What's with that?
  6. I live in Baltimore, and while thats really close to the kennedy center in washington dc, it's hard to find good ballet to see. The kennedy center is so expensive, a little to much for the poor ballet student to go to more than 2 or 3 times a year. Ballet Theater of Md is close, but I perform with them sometimes, and besides they only perform a couple times a year. It seems to me that there is always something to see, but it's so expensive. Food and ballet class seem to be my first priority right now Maybe a discount for ballet students
