  1. Please be able to act. If anything, a good actor is a good dancer to me... making the charcter believable and making the audience feel something is key. Of course technique is terribly important, but without the artistry and acting skills, you don't have yourself a dancer.

  2. Sarah Lane was certainly a sparkling personality in Studio Co., but I didn't notice her onstage this season (if indeed she was, during any of my performances

She moved up to apprentice this year, I don't know how much work she gets to do with the company.

  3. While ABT has some promising corps and soloist girls, I can't see any of them becoming major ballerinas

Have you seen Kristi Boone? Or Sarah Lane? I can see those two as stars in a few years... but perhaps I am bias since they both trained where I do... but really, they are fabulous, and I think they have potential to be principals.

  4. Though this post began many months ago, I read over all the comments again... Lunkina has indeed been marked as the perfect lyrical dancer. I was reading a review on her performance of Giselle, and it was apprently perfect -- sorrowful, wonderful acting and grace. Then I read about her as Kitri in Don Q, and it seems she can shine in other, more "peppy" roles. The article said that the audience was going wild throughout the entire thing. I am interested to see her rise in the ballet world.

  5. Now that we're on the subject of what dancers are up to, does anyone know what Sarah Lane of the studio company has been in lately? I think she should move up to the corps soon, unless they enjoy havng her in the studio co., because she seems to be one of the stars.

  6. I have noticed that the ballerina who plays Kitri always has very dark hair. This is probably because it is a Spanish ballet, but I just love the role of Kitri and because I have blonde hair would I not be chosn to be her [in a company]? (if I were a principal of course!)

  7. Thank you! I have found more at the ballerina gallery site. Ah, she is gorgeous! I wish I was able to see her dance... too bad she is all the way in Russia! Does she have what you would consider good feet?
