Celebrating Jerome Robbins

Words On Dance is proud to announce a major documentation project on dance icon Jerome Robbins under a grant from the New York based Jerome Robbins Foundation. The Jerome Robbins Foundation was founded in 1958 by Mr. Robbins with the intent to support excellence in dance, theater and their associative arts. Two programs will be presented during San Francisco Ballet's 75th anniversary, coinciding with the week of the Robbins programming.

On March 10 and March 17, 2008, at Herbst Theatre, San Francisco, Words On Dance presents stars of Broadway and Ballet and film from the Robbins archive. Guest artists will illuminate Jerome Robbins" innate genius that revolutionized Broadway and Ballet as we know it today. Both programs will be hosted by Amanda Vaill author of SOMEWHERE, The Life of Jerome Robbins.

Participating artists for Broadway Grover Dale (West Side Story), Sheldon Harnick (lyricist for Fiddler on the Roof), Sondra Lee (High Button Shoes and Peter Pan), and Rita Moreno (Oscar winner for West Side Story, and King and I).
