SATURDAY, DECEMBER 22, 2007 AT THE KENNEDY CENTER
Afternoon Matinee to Include Pre-Performance Workshop and
On-stage Meet-and-Greet with ABT Dancers
American Ballet Theatre, with the National Military Families Association, has invited 30 children of active and injured servicemen and women and their families to The John F. Kennedy Center for the matinee performance of The Nutcracker on Saturday, December 22, 2007. The afternoon’s events will include a pre-performance workshop followed by lunch at The Kennedy Center, as well as a post-performance on-stage meet-and-greet with the dancers of American Ballet Theatre.
This event is made possible by a grant from The Sallie Mae Fund, the Official Sponsor of ABT’s 2007-2008 Washington, D.C. Initiatives.
“American Ballet Theatre is honored to bring the holiday spirit to the families of the men and women who have dedicated their lives to serving this country,” said Executive Director Rachel Moore.
ABT’s pre-performance workshops are hour-long workshops tailored to introduce children to explore the ballets they will be watching on stage. ABT teaching artists introduce the basics of character study and creative movement through various activities.
American Ballet Theatre performs the holiday classic The Nutcracker, December 18–23, at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. For ticket information, please call 202.467.4600 or visit www.abt.org <http://www.abt.org> .
