I hope this mini technique discussion has not turned off other posters from commenting on what goes into a beautiful 5th as there is certainly much more to it than the mechanics of turnout, important and complex as they are. carbro Posted May 5, 2006 Share Posted May 5, 2006 A teacher I once had (pretty early in my adult beginner phase) offered the image of the energy spiraling down the whole length of the leg, so while the rotation starts at the hip, it continues down the thigh, through the knee, calf, ankle and foot. This helped me correct my tendency to roll into my arches. I never had enough rotational flexibility to show the sole a la seconde, alas. Link to comment
