I was so very impressed by the appearances of this lovely young lady during the recent RDB run in Wash, DC. I remember her fondly from the 2001 Shanghai & Hensinki Int'l Ballet Competitions...a big winner at both events. Her Esmeralda in Shanghai will always be at the top of my all-time ballet-going memories.

She was a demisoloist in Etudes, here in DC. Has she danced any major roles in Denmark? I would love to continue to chart her progress.

Thanks for any updates from our Danish readers.

Yao Wei danced in Martin's new Octet (a principal role, one of two women cast alongside veteran Silja Schandorff) and also the Nutcracker grand pas. She also appeared in the modern european triple bill a number of times.

I agree, she is lovely to watch.

She has danced some soloist roles, Jeannie -- there were some posts a few weeks back (but I don't reember what they were!)

She was front and center in the Napoli finale, too. She's small, light, and modest -- and so should be one of the non-Danish dancers who will fit in there.
