I'd just like to add something about the triple tours. I am an 18 year old girl (almost.. 13 days) and I can do three revolutions in the air, I didn't realize it was uncommon. When I was a little younger I was in serious training for skating, and it was required of all of us. We started with doubles in 5th grade I believe. I am in school and have very little time to travel so I can see performances, is it uncommon for anyone to do one, or is it just not in most choreography?

As I've said before I danced with Daniel when we were younger, and I have always remembered his jumps being amazing. It was always awful to get paired with him doing grand allegro across the floor! Hopefully I can get to New York one weekend to see him =)

The last time I heard anything about her was 2 years ago at a SI at Southern Ballet Theater, so she was teaching then...

I definetly agree, we've all known from the start he would make it, I can't wait to get up to NY again to see my old ballet friends, since two other girls from this area were just made apprentices.

For the first time ever I got nothing dance related, everything I got was in preperation for college, clothes, a laptop, etc. I'm hoping I'll get those new pointe shoes I need desperately for my birthday in January, I'm down to my last pair! Plus, my college auditions (that I haven't gone to yet) are all in february =)

Daniel Ulbricht was always short, but there was always a girl small enough that he could partner, maybe it is just a matter of time........ (I took class with him when we were younger, before he went to NY..... back in good 'ol Florida)

I live on the beach in Florida, so I love to surf, water ski etc. I'm on the swim team at school, as well as the girls football team (not THAT great for a dancer,but I LOVE it) I'm an avid photographer, and just found out yesterday I have the lead in the first school play of the year Obviously, I like to keep busy, and can't sit still for very long LOL

Oh and i forgot to add, I believe there is a thing in this issue about the different styles of buns, and other ways to wear you hair.

Here in tampa bay Florida we have it at Barnes and Noble's I get it every once in awhile. This month has some beautiful pictures of ballerinas in their favorite tutus! I also like the monthly feature that shows what many prominent ballerinas keep in their dance bags

That sounds like the variation I did We did it in 8th grade (I went to a performing Arts school) and I am led to believe we borrowed the music from the high school. I asked my ballet teacher about it my freshman year, and she said that the choreography was that of a teacher that left the previous year and I think he took the recordings with him. I think they might have even been recordings from our school's orchestra, because that is what we always used for The Nutcracker...

Wow, those are great I'm taking photography for my last art class in high school, and our first project is to study the human body in motion. I can't wait to take my camera to class

I found a cd on Amazon that has 17 tracks from Paquita, it is coupled with Bayadere. it's under Minkus:Bayadere Maybe I'll try this cd

The Children of lir story is correct, except that King Lir married his first wife Eva's sister. Her name was Aoife (not Arife) and they were said to look exactly the same, but one was light of heart and the second dark of heart. Kind of like the black and white swans

Okay this really isn't a good question, but do you know where to find a good cd of the music to Paquita? I performed it long ago, and was hoping to perform my variation again. If I posted this in the wrong place I'm sorry!

I just thought of this. There is also the Irish legend, The Children of Lir, who were also turned into swans.

I agree with the Ladies in waiting theory, it makes the most sense to me. I think historically french (?) princesses did have 32 or more ladies in waiting, though I could be wrong
