  1. What a letdown that Boal wasn't able to perform.

Yes, especially for the young dancers. D and I sat in general seating (behind the dress-circle section), with another young dancer from the PNB 2005 SI and her mother. The girls were VERY disappointed :) not to have the opportunity to see Mr. Boal dance. His cameo appearance lessen their disappointment. On the whole the performance was spectacular especially Red Angels. We are eager to see the company perform again later this month.

  2. My DD isn't 16 yet--so I am allowing her to post under my name:

Today I saw the movie for the 5th...yes the 5th time. I simply love everything about Harry Potter: the books, the movies, the actors/actresses, infact-my mom and I even purchased an obnoxiously large poster from the 3rd movie for my dorm room at camp.

About two weeks ago Entertainment Weekly featured the movie. In their article they stated that Emma Watson is for sure going to be in the remaining 4 movies, however Rupert and Daniel may possibly be replaced. I hope they keep with the original three for all 7 movies, it would be very dissapointing if they were to change.

I'm leaving for my SI tomorrow morning...so I suppose I should go to bed. However, I'm counting down the days until the 4th movie is released November 18th, 2005 (16 months and 25 days)

  3. My DD has been taking classical ballet training for 5 to 6 years. She is 13 (almost 14). She doesn't get to perform much. Nutcracker (party girl last 4yrs) and spring recital. I noticed that the girls who came from recreational programs that offered jazz, tap, hip-hop, and advanced snorkeling :blushing: were more comfortable on stage than dancers like my daughter who have only been trained in classical ballet. She doesn't feel comfortable on stage until she has perfected every movement. This fall she started jazz (1 hour/wk). The studio is a competition studio, so she has performed a jazz number in a small group and a lyrical duo. I think this has helped her. She seems to enjoy the workshops that are part of the competition weekend. These offer classes in jazz technique, hip-hop, jazz funk, lyrical and tap (she doesn't do the tap). Do you think this is a good alternative to ballet competitions?
