His ballet Fives introduced a fifteen year old Amanda McKerrow to NY when Washington Ballet played Brooklyn College many years ago.
I love FIves and I hope TWB performs it again soon.

This is very exciting! I'm so glad TWB board went with someone with AD experience, so as not to make the same mistake twice.

I noticed this happy news on the company's website.
Trinidad Vives | The Washington Ballet
They're still searching for a permanent A.D.
This is concerning. TWB must be a pretty prestigious position. Could it be the debt or difficulty obtaining performance space that is making the job not attractive?

I wonder if they had someone in mind for AD, were negotiating, that it didn't work out, resulting in the late recruiting that apparently started in April.
Also, Kristina Windom moving from TWSB to head the school of Philadelphia Ballet is huge. Even though she did not head the school at Washington or lead PPD, she was a huge presence and had been at the school for many years.

How was the show?

Though Julie Kent will be a co-AD and the other co-AD will be the current AD, who may have some loyalty to the current staff.
Yes, but I was referring to TWSB, wondering if Julie will take the teachers she brought with her from ABT to Houston. I assume whoever the new AD is at TWB wants his/her own people.
And does anyone think its a bit strange she is going to be co-AD? Sure Houston is bigger, but I wonder if its an acknowledgment that she needs more experience in the non-artistic parts of being an AD (courting donors, attracting big name guests etc.)

No news yet and I live in the area and am very involved in the dance community. My guess is that this departure was a bit unexpected, and that the company is in process of searching/interviewing a new AD.
That makes sense. I am more engaged with students/trainees who are interested in TWSB and wondering if the school/PTP will undergo much of a change with a new AD or if Julie is taking any teachers with her to Houston.

Any news or additional speculation on new artistic director?

Septime Webre visited at the start of rehearsals and reworked some of the choreography. Agree that the new challenges for Clara are an improvement. How did people like the (few) new costumes?
