Hans
I probably should have posted this closer to the date, but I received the Kennedy Center newsletter saying that the Royal Danish Ballet would perform excerpts from Napoli at the International Dance Festival in DC in March and couldn't help myself . Alexandra
Yes, and I think they're bringing the best thing they have now. When I last saw them at the Bournonville Week in 2002, the tarantella still looked very good. (Led by Alexei Ratmansky, who was absolutely wonderful -- good as a Dane, a real Bournonville "fullblooded dancer" (fulblodsdanser, I think it is).) The solos and pas de six showed the effects of the last ten years of disarray; the older dancers (i.e., the 30-year-olds) were fine, the younger ones didn't have the phrasing. But they also had very little rehearsal then, and I'm sure that will NOT be the case this time. Link to comment
