Opera and symphony in Chicago go off the air

Recommended Posts

It probably can't be solved in the short term. John von Rhien beats the usual dead horse, that the greedy musicians are keeping this wonderful music from the airwaves and that we are all the poorer for it.

The real issue is that the money just isn't there for the broadcasts. The sponsors, two airlines, have cut them off. Since the airlines in question, United and American, are in bad financial shape with United teetering on the edge of bankrupcty it is not surprising.
