A review of the State Ballet of the Gärtnerplatztheater, Munich in "Troy" by Ilona Landgraf in her blog, "Landgraf on Dance."

Quote

Soon, the men came to life again. Accompanied by the squeaking violins of an Arvo Pärt remake, they slapped their thighs and chests, crawled across the floor, and lifted one another. Some embraced each other on the floor, and others fought. But the sense and purpose of their actions remained unclear. The warrior who solemnly carried the limp body of his opponent in his arms before suddenly throwing him away like despicable waste might have portrayed Achilles and Hector. If so, the woman who bitterly mourned the dead must have been Hector’s wife, Andromache.

A review of the Hofesh Shechter Company and the National Ballet of Canada by Rupert Christiansen in The Spectator.

Quote

The first thing to note about the National Ballet of Canada, which last month briefly visited Britain after a decade of absence, is that its dancers emerge collectively as a beautifully schooled troupe, cohesive in style and confident in different idioms. The second thing of note is its management’s brave decision to present a programme of new work by three native choreographers, all of whom had an engaging idea to offer. Never mind that total success wasn’t the result.

A review of New York City Ballet by Marianne Adams for danceviewtimes.com.

Quote

In the Contemporary Choreography program of recent ballets by all female creators, including this season's world premiere, New York City Ballet presented rich dancing and a level of comfort with the material that is seldom seen with newer works. It may not have been the best choreography the company has in its repertory, but all three works were excellent vehicles for the dancers to explore ways to make the roles their own, and in all three the cast capitalized on the opportunity.
