California
I hope this is an acceptable source: https://artsmeme.com/2024/08/12/death-of-a-dance-critic/ This was also posted on several Facebook sites yesterday. If I see an official obituary somewhere, I'll add that. Many of us knew George when he lived in Washington, DC. He earned a living as a PhD scientist at the US Government, but his first love was dance. He will be missed! Link to comment
Helene
Rest in peace, George Jackson. I was privileged to meet him before a performance at the Kennedy Center, and I loved reading him. Link to comment
Fosca
This is an obituary in German from a friend in Vienna, where Jackson was born as Hans Georg Jakobowicz. He still loved dance from Vienna and was an expert. The author Alfred Oberzaucher was the dramaturg of Vienna State Ballet for almost 40 years. http://www.tanz.at/magazin/people/2937-george-jackson-doyen-der-tanzschriftsteller-verstorben Link to comment

California
4 hours ago, Fosca said: An obituary by Alastair Macaulay https://www.danceforyou-magazine.com/58602-2/ A fascinating obituary. I do find it puzzling that Macaulay doesn't name Sarah Kaufman, who was let go by the Washington Post in 2022, when he namechecks Kriegsman and Tomalonis. Following the deaths of Alan (“Mike”) Kriegsman (2012) and Alexandra Tomalonis (2023) – and the withdrawal of others from the scene – this is a significant depletion of the ranks of authoritative dance figures in Washington D.C., https://sarahlkaufman.com/about-sarah-kaufman-author/ Link to comment
