dirac
A story on a new trend in plastic surgery called the "Ballet Body." https://www.newbeauty.com/ballet-body-plastic-surgery/ Quote New York plastic surgeon Anna Steve, MD explains, “The American Society of Plastic Surgeons has new data that suggests women are increasingly seeking something called the ‘Ballet body.’ This is a strive for patients to achieve more natural, subtle-looking results.” This shift is evident in the recent 2023 ASPS report, where breast augmentations saw a modest 2 percent increase, while breast lift procedures surged by 7 percent. These shifts shows a preference for procedures that enhance the body rather than dramatically alter it. Link to comment
dirac
Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey prepare to go on the road with "Quadrophenia" once more, this time as a ballet. Quote More than 50 years later, he’s reviving it again – not as a rock opera, but as a ballet in collaboration with Sadler’s Wells and Universal Music. “I wanted to remind the band where we came from; we came from west London and the mods were our people,” says Townshend, who thinks in 2024 there are echoes of the mid-60s, when mod culture emerged as a rejection of conservative British norms. dirac
A review of New York City Ballet by Leigh Witchel for dancelog.nyc. Quote Even more than Fancy Free, which has slowly become unmoored from the 1940s, Interplay gave up looking like its period long ago. There are period moves in the ballet, jitterbugging and snapping fingers while swinging low, but those felt like distant references. When the dancers lined up at the front in shadow, it was less about mood and more about dancing, still you could feel the urge in Andres Zuniga’s jitterbug pose with the whole body cocked. But Interplay as done at NYCB takes place onstage in the present. Link to comment
