ABT leavers

Cassandra Trenary just posted an Instagram story that said, “Give these folks some love as we celebrate their last day at the ABT studios,” with a picture of Eric Tamm, Alexandra Basmagy, Katherine Williams, Lauren Post, Kiely Groenewegen, Erica Lall and Luciana Paris.

Aww it's sad to see so many of them go but many have danced with the company for 10+ years so it's understandable to want to leave especially if they aren't going to be promoted. 

There will be at least 2 open female Soloist spots now right? Maybe Zimmi and Li Fanqi?

Wow, that’s a lot at once, but at least 2 were very needed. I’m also hopeful that Coker and Li can now move up and so many leavers also makes room for the promising apprentices to join the corps.

Perhaps they were shown the writing on the wall and we're now hearing the new AD that didn't bark.

There are a lot of people leaving, and they each would have reasons/reasoning.

I wish them all the best in what they do next

Alexandra Basmagy, Katherine Williams and Lauren Post already made public announcements.  Luciana Paris, it's time.  Kiely Groenewegen occasionally got mime roles.  Blaine Hoven and Eric Tamm have been with ABT for a very long time.  Tamm left before at a time when his career was really rising.  Jonathan Klein stepped out last year to promote his skin and beauty care product line with his wife Emily Hayes.  Erica Lall is a shock and a sad one - she has a radiance onstage.  I thought she could make soloist.

So that is at least 8 or 10 gone.

I’m really surprised by Erica Lall. I hope she is continuing to dance elsewhere (if that is her wish, of course).

Me, too. I think she's a wonderful dancer and that she continues to dance and perform prominently, as much as she desires.

I was also surprised by Lall. She has an effervescent presence onstage and is a very good jumper. I hope she continues to dance somewhere.

I'm surprised Luis Ribagorda is still in the company.  He has been in the corps for 20 years, although he left for a period of time to pursue a career  as a real estate agent.

Wish them all the best in their careers post-ABT. A shame Hoven wasn’t promoted sooner and given more opportunities to develop in his prime years. Will especially miss Erica Lall’s sparkle, and the wit Luciana Paris had been bringing to character roles these past few seasons.  Hopefully this means an over-due promotion for Zimmi Coker soon!
