Since the topic came up on another thread, I would appreciate the input of the Ballet Alert hive mind to identify the performing-arts streaming services out there. Platforms marked with an asterisk also rent out individual streams. For full disclosure, I subscribe to only three of these, so I can't comment on the quality of all of them, though I have rented individual streams from some others. There can be quite a bit of overlap where content is concerned. Also, pricing can vary from country to country, so my figures may be incorrect for your neck of the woods.

It's also worth investigating what sort of streamed content is available through your public library (the Naxos Video Library in my case; it includes more than 4000 videos).

Thanks for this great list. I would add a fewer lesser ones:

Amazon Prime has several fictionalized ballet stories and documentaries that are free (with ads): Driven to Dance, Birds of Paradise, Ulyana Lopatkina, The Bolshoi, Baryshnikov in Hollywood. It seems to be a rotating list. Others are available for short rentals or purchases, including American Ballet Theatre: A History, Dancers, First Position, Nureyev's Swan Lake, Baryshnikov on Broadway, Baryshnikov's Nutcracker, White Nights. (If you elect slow delivery on other purchases, you can accumulate digital credits and get some of these for free.)

Netflix has several ballet fictionalized stories: Yeh Ballet, Tiny Pretty Things, Battle, Dancing on Glass, Let's Dance

Max has Black Swan, The Red Shoes

PBS Passport (requires a donation of $60 a year): Oodles of dance previously shown on PBS. Much is local regional performances and interviews. But it currently includes New York City Ballet in Madrid, with Serenade and Square Dance
