A review of  Rupert Christiansen's "Diaghilev's Empire" by Anne Sebba in The Sunday Telegraph.

One of my favourite stories in Christiansen’s new book, which is bursting with extraordinary characters and anecdotes – a Who’s Who of early 20th century European artists – was Igor Stravinsky’s struggle to describe accurately the perversity of Diaghilev’s entourage. Peninsula Ballet Theatre presents "Carmina Burana."

Gregory Amato, artistic director of Peninsula Ballet Theatre, plans to open the company’s season with his newly choreographed version of the piece. It draws inspiration, he says, from the riotous imagery of painter Hieronymus Bosch’s triptych “The Garden of Earthly Delights.”
