Paul Vasterling announces his retirement from Nashville Ballet.

Nashville Ballet’s board of directors has named Vasterling artistic director emeritus in honor of his being the longest-serving artistic director in the history of Nashville Ballet.

Two female ballet students are suing the University of Cincinnati for failing to take action against a male dancer's sexual misconduct.

Quote

WCPO spoke to the two female dancers, who are known in the lawsuit as Karen Soe and Jane Roe, about their experiences.

“Men, when they lift you, are supposed to lift you from your waist,” said Karen Soe, who is a senior ballet major at UC and is at an out-of-state co-op this year. “And with John Doe, his hands started in the wrong place; they started on my breasts, and they remained there for the entirety of the lift.”

The Kyiv City Ballet tours America for the first time.

For four days in September, 45 dancers from the world-class troupe will be in residency at the Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts, a stop on a quickly-assembled American tour. They will give two performances in the center’s 530-seat Birdsong Theater and host master classes and field trips for children and adults.

The Royal Academy of Dance advises the public to check dance teachers' credentials.

A survey revealed that 89% of adults in the UK were not aware that there is currently no legal requirement for dance teachers to have a relevant teaching qualification in order to lead a class or dance school.
