Helene
PACIFIC NORTHWEST BALLET PRESENTS ITS 2021-2022 Season Encore Performance Celebrating the return to live performances, and saluting the careers of departing dancers. Featuring the world-famous PNB Orchestra. ONE NIGHT ONLY! Sunday, June 12, 2022 – 6:30 pm Marion Oliver McCaw Hall SEATTLE, WA – The curtain comes down on Pacific Northwest Ballet’s 2021-2022 season with its annual Season Encore Performance, a celebratory salute to departing dancers and a crowd-pleasing reprise of some of PNB’s greatest hits. The program will feature PNB’s entire Company, along with the world-famous PNB Orchestra under the baton of Music Director/Principal Conductor Emil de Cou, performing works by George Balanchine, Alejandro Cerrudo, Ulysses Dove, and David Parsons. “Our Season Encore performance offers the perfect opportunity to pay tribute to dancers who are leaving the Company, and to celebrate the culmination of another great season,” noted Artistic Director Peter Boal. “Lots to be grateful for with this one, as we returned to the stage after such a prolonged absence. The unwavering commitment of dancers and the entire PNB family during this past season made me extremely proud.” In addition to the previously-announced retirement of soloist Joshua Grant, the Season Encore Performance will be the audience’s opportunity to offer fond farewells to corps de ballet dancers Guillaume Basso and Sarah Pasch who will also be leaving PNB at the end of the season. Basso, who joined the company in 2015, will be focusing his post-PNB career on continued work with Adage Ballet Studio, the Sodo-neighborhood coaching facility he opened with Abby Jayne DeAngelo in 2021. Ms. Pasch studied on scholarship at Pacific Northwest Ballet School, joined the company as an apprentice in 2011 and was promoted to corps de ballet in 2012. She recently finished her degree in Interdisciplinary Studies through Western Governors University, and will be moving on to teach elementary school in the fall, following PNB’s summer tours to New York and Los Angeles. Mr. Boal continued with special recognition for the retiring corps members: “Guillaume always brings a warm presence to the stage, and shared his laughter and love of dance with all in the studio. As he embarks on an exciting new chapter this summer, we thank him for his many contributions to the company. “Instantly recognizable for her height and presence, Sarah has served as a role model in the company and, no doubt, will continue to be a role model as she steps into a classroom next fall to begin her new career. What a wealth of experience, professionalism, and joy she will bring to the next generation.” PNB’s Season Encore Performance will be presented one night only, Sunday, June 12 at 6:30 pm at McCaw Hall, 321 Mercer Street at Seattle Center. seattle_dancer
I will miss Sarah, Josh and Guillaume but it is so wonderful they are all staying in town, have started their new paths, AND that they all contribute to the Seattle community! This program looks like a nice blend of featuring departing dancers and gearing up for the upcoming NY and LA tours. I look forward to the show, and am glad PNB is keeping the Covid vaccination and mask requirements. Last I heard the Seattle area theaters were keeping them through May 31, but I didn't know what would happen after that date. Link to comment
