In addition to the mainstage season, the popular Family Classics Series returns with Snow White. Choreographed and adapted for the stage by BW Principal Rehearsal Director Pamela Robinson-Harris and performed by Ballet West II and students of the Frederick Quinney Lawson Ballet West Academy. It includes guided narration to help viewers follow the action on stage and is shorter in length for younger attention spans. Snow White is, of course, the legendary story of a beautiful princess and her seven adoring companions as they overcome banishment, curses, and poisoned apples, while growing closer together. Snow White runs April 7-8. Saturday, April 8 at 7:00 PM will be performed with Spanish narration.

As an added an added benefit, subscribers to this year’s 59th season will be allowed priority access to the following year’s 60th Anniversary Season return of Adam Sklute’s acclaimed Swan Lake presented with All New Sets & Costumes for the first time in BW history. Subscribers should take advantage of this priority offer for this in-demand production, which takes place in winter of 2024.

Single tickets do not go on sale until September, so patrons are encouraged to subscribe now or renew their season subscriptions early to get best seats available. Five-performance packages start at $131. Contact Ballet West at 801-869-6920 or visit www.balletwest.org.

For a regional company (about 37 dancers), that's an impressively rich schedule! I wish they'd scheduled the Nijinska with some other works. (I'm not keen on the rest of that program.) And this seems to be the only Onegin in North America next year. For all the talk in recent years about giving female choreographers an opportunity, I've been hoping somebody would take note of Nijinska!
