Quote Subtlety has never been considered a characteristic of “Coppélia,” performed with flash, acrobatics, heart, and a huge dose of comedy by Ballet Theatre of Maryland (BTM). Based on the 1870 French rendition by Arthur Saint Leon—with Russian touches by Marius Petipa—BTM’s charming version closed the company’s season this evening at the Maryland Hall in Annapolis. Quote In the wake of the Langs’ termination, members of the Toledo Ballet Guild, a support organization for the Toledo Ballet, resigned en masse via a letter to TAPA leadership. Quote The program includes Jeux, a piece originally created for the Ballet Russe. Fernanda Oliveira is choreographing Jeux for Avant Chamber Ballet as her second assignment for the company. “Fernanda is an amazingly talented choreographer and an effortless storyteller through dance," Puder said. "I have wanted to commission a new work from her since her last and this ballet seemed a perfect fit as an interpretation of the original story of a love triangle seen as a game or sport."
