Ana Sophia Scheller has been a principal with the National Ballet of Ukraine the last few years, but recent political events have put the company's future on hold. Currently, martial law is in place over the whole of Ukraine.
Scheller recently posted some photos on Instagram from friends in Kiev who are essentially sheltering in place:

National Opera Ukraine announcement:

"Dear viewers, attention! !️ In connection with the introduction by the Decree of the President of Ukraine No. 64/2022 on the entire territory of Ukraine of the martial law regime from 24.02.2022, we temporarily stop showing performances. After the termination or cancellation of martial law, the theater will resume its work in full. We will inform you about the refund for previously purchased tickets separately."

I was just looking at their web site -- a very rich repertoire, mostly classics, but interesting: https://opera.com.ua/en/afisha?type=98

Judging from his postings, Ratmansky worked with this company long ago as a principal dancer and his wife Tatiana is from Ukraine. Ukraine has produced some amazing dancers over the years - from Nijinski and Zakharova to Shevchenko. I was thinking that when they recover and rebuild in the coming years, it would be an interesting place to visit and spend some dollars.

Yes, Scheller went to Ukraine to submerge herself in the "classic" repertoire. I won't hazard a guess on what "recovery" will look like in that region. I expect things to get much worse before they get better. Europe in general will be on edge for a while.

Yes, although born in Leningrad, Ratmansky's family moved to Kyiv at some point early in his childhood, before he was shipped off to study at the Moscow Academy. He danced in Kyiv from 1986 to 1994 (I first saw him during a Canadian tour in 1991 doing beautiful Bournonville), then with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet in 1994-95, after which he returned to the National Ballet of Ukraine, before joining the Royal Danish Ballet in 1997. He was a principal there until becoming director of the Bolshoi in 2004. His wife danced with all of those companies as well.
