ABT SS Met Season - casting?

I just watched the live stream of the opening night cast rehearsing Act II for Of Love and Rage, with Ratmansky. Bell was there and to my (untrained) eye did not seem injured or limited in any way.  So we'll hope the cast change was triggered by something else.  This is the opening night cast:

Catherine Hurlin (Callirhoe)

Aran Bell (Chaereas)

Daniel Camargo (Dionysius)

Cory Stearns (Mithridates)

Roman Zhurbin (King of Babylon)

Katherine Williams (Queen of Babylon)

There was a live stream?? (Only for donors or something I guess?)

Thanks for letting us know. Maybe Bell has a wedding to go to (or some other random thing that caused this casting shuffle...).

I assume this was for Friends, but I don't know at what level. I got an email invitation and signed up.

They did a live stream of rehearsals for T&V back on May 7. I was hoping to see who was cast as principals, but it was only for the corps.

Maybe Roman Mejia from across the plaza has some extra time on his hands.  Now that would be a Basilio I would show up to even with Seo as Kitri!

ABT imported Andrew Veyette back in 2014 to cover for Cory Stearns in Theme & Variations when Stearns went down with an injury. This contributed to the general collapse in company morale around that time. (2014 was the nadir of the guest artist/exchange artist period.)

The company needs to solve its problems from within.

Here's a new clip of Hurlin and Bell rehearsing Of Love and Rage, with Ratmansky directing. I think he looks pretty healthy!

Maybe they  took him out of the Don Q full length because he has 3 performances of Love and Rage the following week, so they are trying to protect him from injury.

That makes sense. Forster and Royal are the only other two announced for the lead. As a new ballet, they likely don't have a deep bench that could fill in.

I thought Ahn was terrific in Don Q at the Kennedy Center, but I couldn't stomach seeing Hee Seo again as Kitri. (I got a ticket instead for the Baryshnikov theater piece that night.)

Not sure if this has been posted already, but for tomorrow's gala, Daniel Camargo is replacing Cory Stearns as Basilio.  (Stearns is still listed for later in the week as Basilio.).  Nothing against Stearns, but I am curious to see Camargo.

So, Paulina Waski has returned to the company from Boston and will be dancing Flower girls this week:

Just checked ABT dancers and indeed she is listed! So I assume she is back? We had bought tickets to her Myrtha before Covid but she was replaced 😳 Always loved her dancing and looks like she kept up her physique in Boston. Can't wait to see more of Waski this season and hopefully next!? Thanks for this share and hope she will post more of what is coming up.

Casting for Mercutio in R&J is now listed on the ABT website.

Fantastic to see two deserving corps dancers get cast, Klein and Pogossian. Anyone else remember Jeffrey Cirio in this part? Wow. Hope to see a few other corps fellas get Benvolio.

I saw this on Instagram story from Sungwoo Han's page.

https://www.instagram.com/sungwoohan__/?hl=en

Sungwoo Han, Chloe Misseldine and Sunmi Park are all debuting pas de trios in Sawn Lake on 6/30 (Gillian's show I believe) and again on 7/2. If anyone goes please let me know your thoughts on how they do! All three are brilliant dancers, but I have to say Chloe has been a sentimental favorite of mine and I'm happy to see that others are enjoying her also.

If anyone sees further official info on the Swan Lake pas de trois casting, please post. I am interested in seeing a Swan Lake, but struggling to find the right casting. Hearing the glowing reports about Jarod Curley on the OLAR thread make me want to see his von Rothbart, but he's dancing on the nights with Murphy and with Boylston - I've seen Gillian Murphy so many times in this role that I'd like to see someone else, but I cannot abide Isabella Boylston. On the other hand, I would like to see Daniel Carmago, who is paired with Boylston. Pas de trois casting might be determinative, wish they would post that.

If you are only seeing one Swan Lake, I’d recommend seeing Shevchenko as she is a stunning Odette/Odile.  I’m also looking forward to Royal’s debut as Siegfried.    FYI - ABT Fan just posted the pas de trois casting for the Shevchenko/Royal performances.
