dirac
Tamara Rojo is interviewed by David Jays in The Sunday Times. Quote Rojo, 47, doesn’t balk at controversy. During 12 years as a star of the Royal Ballet, the Spanish ballerina always spoke her mind and as ENB’s director her riskiest choices (Khan’s Giselle, all-female choreography programmes, revivals of work by boundary-pushing artists such as Pina Bausch) have been among her greatest successes. She weathered the gossip about favouritism and conflicts of interest around her relationship with one of ENB’s leading dancers, Isaac Hernández, 16 years her junior. The couple had their first child, Mateo, last year. Link to comment
dirac
Some dancers want to take a powder on the tutu. Quote Back in Benjamin’s native land the national ballet company has announced a new season of work that will steer away from pretty costumes and orthodox stagings. Artistic director David Hallberg, who has been leading the Australian Ballet since last year, has not programmed any of the classic “tutu ballets”, such as Swan Lake, Giselle or The Sleeping Beauty, and is keen to take a break from bouncing layers of tulle.
