I think my leadership style is innovative and that’s what people look to me as, an innovator. I think that’s why I was brought in. Parkinson has been here for more than 15 years and he was a great leader, and when he retired they were looking for someone with experience in community outreach, which is where I came in. The pace of innovation is so high that if you don’t keep up, you’ll be irrelevant in a heartbeat. What I want to do is ensure the relevance of Ballet Hawaii for the next 50 years or more.
