dirac
A review of Northern Ballet by Lyndsey Winship in The Guardian. Quote Drew McOnie’s first full-length ballet, Merlin, is a likable stab at a fantasy drama for a family audience, based on the story of the legendary wizard, with warring kingdoms, spear-fighting, stage magic, a smoke-breathing dragon and a mighty, LED-studded Excalibur. dirac
A review of New York City Ballet by Ivy Lin for Bachtrack. Quote Opus 19/The Dreamer starred Gonzalo Garcia and Tiler Peck, who are both great dancers and longtime partners, but somehow they didn’t click in this ballet. Peck’s technique is amazing, but she is too earthy for this dreamlike, diaphanous role. Garcia’s soft, understated style takes away some of the fever dream dimension of the ballet. Link to comment
