Toledo Ballet presents a Shakespeare-themed ballet.

Kansas City Ballet performs at the Topeka Zoo.

As in Ashton’s “Symphonic Variations,” made the year before, the arrangement of dancers and use of the upper body suggest classical sculpture and architecture. A woman, Victoria Hulland, is partnered by two men, Ricardo Rhodes and Daniel Pratt. They represent a balance of forces, equilibrium and interdependence, a very Ashtonian theme. They and the rest of the cast give a polished performance, but one that lacks expansiveness.

Savannah Ballet Theatre gets a grant to work with schools.

"We were given the grant by the city for $52,000 for educational outreach. So we'll be partnering with schools in the fall hopefully once their backs in session, and teaching classes," Dugal said.
