Newbie says hello

hi! I am a couch ballet fan, i know basically nothing about ballet but for some reason i find it fascinating and beautiful. Because i am not fluent in ballet vocabulary i am often unable to explain why i like some things and dislike others. But when i like something, i reeeeally like it !

Welcome to Ballet Alert! Hogmel!  

Some of us came to ballet because we were put in class or asked to be in class as a child, and other of us came to it because we saw it on TV or the internet or we taken to a performance, or we read about a performer or work or saw a poster, and our interest was  piqued, and that could have been at any age.  Our members are a mix of those starts and have different opportunities to see things live or streamed or in cinemas, often based on where they live.

Hello Hogmel and welcome.  Sometimes even people who have been going to the ballet for years can't find the words to explain why they reeeeally like things!  That's one of the mysteries of art....(But it can be fun to try to find them.)

Thank you Drew and Helene! I certainly enjoy reading what others have to say about ballet . Often it helps me pinpoint exactly why i like this but hate that.

That's the best way to be---'knowing nothing'.  You are free to let the poetry of the movement and music wash over you. That was me so many years. ago
