Thank you for the schedule. It's depressing that Covid-19 has forced Austria back into lockdown. But I admire the Vienna State Opera for trying to boost morale by opening up its video library once again, and I'm really grateful to them for sharing with the rest of us.

The announcement is also available in English, and it contradicts Helene's claims about the quality of her German.

Not free, but for ticket-holders of the Spring 2022 Lyric Opera of Chicago ticket holders, they will stream the upcoming performances of:

• Tosca (Michelle Bradley, Russell Thomas, Fabian Veloz)
• Fire Shut Up in My Bones (Will Liverman, Latonia Moore, Jaqueline Echols, Chauncey Parker, Chris Kenney).  It's the same directing team -- James Robinson and Camille A. Brown -- that directed at the Met, with chreography by Brown
• Sir Andrew Davis Conducts Beethoven's 9th (Eric Owens, Matthew Polenzani, Mathilde Edge, Kathleen Felty)

Streams are made available about two weeks after opening night and are available until two weeks after the close (all in April).  If you purchase a ticket, you can request a stream online, and they can try to resell your ticket.  Or, if your ticket isn't scanned, they'll send a link to the stream automatically.

I was guardedly optimistic when I bought a subscription, before they'd made a streaming decision for the Spring performances, that I'd be traveling to Chicago for Fire Shut Up in My Bones.  That is not going to happen, and I am grateful that they've continued to stream.
